I was really expecting a lot because I loved CIBIYB, but the writing of this really didn't surpass it's predecessor. It was still an enjoyable ride as the chapters before their marriage were well executed, I also loved the dialogues the couples had. I just got bored a bit because the MLs thoughts where getting redundant, and that even the tropes felt similar like: childhood friend inspiring jealousy inside MLs, naïve MCs, MLs possessive actions without tackling feelings, MCs running away, MLs chasing them, MCs life threatening accident and MLs getting that woke attitude L-O-V-E did exist hooblaaa. Although the ML here felt very much more realistic-
Spoiler
he often drank which became a problem sometimes (not the abusive kind guys haha), he was vulnerable at times, had realistic fights with the MC because he wasn't a perfect lover but MC had expectations since she loved him, and since the dude was a prince, MCs dependency on him was tackled where she felt lonely when he was busy so she decided to socialize and gain connections; although tbh ML was fine even if she didn't do that.
I would the say the bet was actually a trivial matter, but it did move the plot. Smut was good, didn't expect this much from an R-15 but I enjoyed their scenes very much.

This might be the first time I've ever written a review for a novel I need you all to know this one here is a gem. The FL has one of the best characteristics ever and the ML isn't that bad and I actually loved him as the novel progressed and was cheering for him. Give this a chance the writing is amazing!!!!

I didn't know why, but I couldn't stop reading. I hated Bjorn, and my heart hurts for Erna, this usually is enough for me to stop reading the novel, but I keep on reading despite the pain, haha Guess the translators and the way the story unfolds made me endure and I really did find myself loving the novel and rooting for the two MC despite their imperfections.
Do I recommend this? Hmn, not sure. If you're bored and want to feel frustrated then go ahead. The novel was well written and there's spicy scenes too, but you'll surely establish a love-hate relationship with the main leads so be prepared.

I honestly don't get the low rating. The author of this novel has a way with words. I am in love with this novel. The FL and ML are polar opposites and that's so exciting. It's very rare to see a writing like this. I loved CEBIYB (other work of dolche) . So I'm really really looking forward to next chapters.

I started reading this novel after completed reading CEBIYB--as I considered it as the best Korean web novel. Honestly, It's hard to move on from Mathias-Leyla :). So, I have high expectation of Solche's second work.
The "Troublematic Prince" had same setting, somewhere in European fictional setting in the past century, with the same typical character 'a bad boy type vs naive girl', Cinderella syndrome. But the way the author-nim crafted the characters was good, the plot was also interesting, and the words and methapors she choosed was beautiful (here the credits also goes to translator in woopread who provided high quality translation).
At the beginning, plot seemed slow, but after few chapters the conflicts and characters development have captivated me. So "The Problematic Prince" is also another page turner novel. Compared to her previous novel--CEBIYB-- the male main was still better than Mathias (I mean less evil), and more lighter theme than CEBIYB for some point.
The story was about Herna Hardy-- a country girl from a fallen aristocrats, raised by her grandparents (The Baden) after separation of her parents. As her grandfather passed away, and no other direct male heir, Erna and her grandmother will loose their right of the property. Feeling afraid of loosing the only shelter, she looked for her father who lived in the capital. Unfortunately, her father was in the edge of bankruptcy. Her arrival lead him to have bad intention: sold off for marriage to gain monetary benefit.
Living in the city, Erna faced many cultural shock; grandeur buildings and infrastructures, amazing festive events, but full of evil characters and scandals. One of her biggest adventures scandals was with the Prince Bjorn (who was notorious as poisonous mushroom prince, if you eat you will die). Using Erna as the bet among young aristocrats, their love story began, as the main theme in this novel.
I'm still looking forward for the updates (it means I haven't completed reading the whole novel), yet I'm already in love with this novel.
The last, it's better you read it by your self :)

I think I wrote a review before Idk why it isn't showing but it was a meh it's readable but for me I didn't enjoy it I also read the raw chapter but I grasped a few things the MC is beyond naive she wanted to save her and her grandmas house and in this time women can not inherit titles so she goes and begs her father who she knows abandoned her to help her out in return she would stay with him for a year right...☺ Now okay I get it she's not very knowledgeable about nobles and this you know noble life even tho she is noble anyways she all of a sudden has to join society blah blah normal stuff at this point Idk she should've known something was up you just said stay a year you never said I had to work hard to do anything really anyways it took physical abuse to let her gain some sense the second ML is also a coward he didn't confess to her because she had a higher status than him even tho she kinda lived like a commoner and had nothing to do with nobles so he started avoiding her went to the big Scott to gain a name as a artist the ML I kinda like his character can't remember if he was poisoned for real or if it was figurative speaking but long story short he was crown Prince demoted to a duke because he was poisoned or something his ex wife is a nasty woman the whole city think he cheated and made her life a child Idk but she did something I can't say because that's like spoiler anyways his character personality for with his backstory Idk don't really like the MC she's embarrassimg and cringe too naive for my taste not realistic at all

It's my first time writing the review for anything in this forum. Pardon me for any misspelled and bad grammar.
I would like to give the biggest applause to the translator's team. You are the true main character/s of this series. Biggest props for you🥰🥰
Anyway, let's get into it.
After reading it so far, I come to conclusion that this kind of trope isn't my cup of tea. I read this series because I found it interesting and fresh from what I saw from the manhwa adaptation so far. I kind of see the potential for this series to become big, that's why I I keep reading it even though it's not my thing.
Spoiler
First thing first, there wouldn't be any significant characters' development for both ML and fl.
I believed Erna wouldn't be able to bring people to her side until the very end if the manuscript of Gladys' lover wasn't published. She's still clueless about how the high society works despite she's in it for more than a year and very dependent on ML regarding her social life. She can't stand for herself because of her background and being innocent and ~~overly~~ naive character she is. She's just kind of accepting everything that everyone thrown at her, and rotated her life around Bjorn (the ml). Which made me as a reader find it quite annoying.
Then, the ML isn't that bad, I kinda like his nonchalant side, which is a polar opposite from Erna. But, he is the epitome of emotionally absent partner with privilege of being handsome and rich. Like any other ML who has this very same desease, he'll chased after Erna and basically begged her to stay by himself after she decided to leave him behind.
Sure, there's some sweet scene here and there. But, before the redemption arc which is before she had a miscarriage and decided to leave Bjorn. He won't listened to Erna, didn't care with her needs, and saw her only as a decoration. Everytime Erna tried to communicate with him, he'll turned it into s3x scene everytime, which ruin the momentum and left Erna forgot to continue her questions/aspirations. These whole fiascos between them made me irked so bad.
For bottom line, if you are bored with marry sue and strong independent type female character, maybe you can try to read this one. The translation is great, the plot and execution are flawless, it follows popular trope:
A pumpkin girl went to the city> meet a handsome city man > get entangled in some ways > pumpkin girl falls in love > the city man doesn't care with the girl's feeling > conflict > miscommunication > even a bigger conflict > pumpkin girl leave the city man> the city man realized his feeling > tried to win back the pumpkin girl's love > ect ect.
You might get hooked into it despite you hate it.

Ugh. I don't care if it's finished or not.
it was too painful.
props to the translator for the high quality work! So easy to read!
the story was very realistic, especially for the time period. A emotionally absent husband who only shows "affection" through materialistic means and a wife who tries to show her love and fulfill her "wifely duties"—all while craving for the same love.
The fact that MMC was so clueless about his wife's emotional state of mind... is not surprising but disappointing. It reminds of the farewell wife syndrome where emotionally neglected women ask for divorce from their husband who was clueless of the fact that their marriage is in shambles. And the reason they are clueless of because of deeply rooted misogyny. That men are weak or incapable of showing love and affection for their wives. That they're sole purpose is to protect and protect which the MMC took on. And that their "love language (sure if that's you call it) is only physical affection (sex) and not emotional support. Again, MMC wanting s*x after miscarriage is so low for me. That's why the story is so realistic and painful to read.
the reason I don't care for the ending is because I know there will be "happy ending" for HIM. she'll just compromise some way Cx women are expected to do that and she's not going to stop loving him even tho he's a ahole and the worst husband. Because fiction reader (including me) love happy ending where the couples are together.
But I like to think that she never forgave him and that she divorced his ass. That she found a affectionate and real man who is not egotistic as Bjore (I thinks that's how you spell it) and doesnt have the toxic masculinity that keeps him from loving his wife. I don't care for all the materialistic things he did for her. He was still cruel to her. I hope she's happy and he rots in hell. That would be a true HEA for me in this story.

Its the second novel of Solche that I have read and it never dissapointing. Beautiful writing to the core. The character development is good too. The FL doesnt have overly dramatic life that only suffering is in her path of life.
For me Byorn is a much better ML than Matthias. At least Byorn didnt made Erna his mistress but take her the proper way through wedding. The minus point of him is only his laziness.
Lazy for explaing about what exactly happend with his first marriage, lazy for making his reputation better for Erna smooth life as duchess, and last but most important toooo lazy to make Erna his priority.
At least he didnt r*pe her like Matthias did to Leyla so is Bastian to Odette.
And as always thank you so much for the TL-nim who can express the author beautufil writting through their hardworking translation. Its quality is superb.
